Paintings

Artist’s Statement:

Painting is one of the great joys of my life. Taking me deeply into the nature of things, it offers communion, profound connection, the opportunity to immerse myself in beauty, light, color and form. The kinesthetic response to what is seen and experienced is a particular avenue into understanding the structure of things and allows us to express our love and delight as we participate actively in Creation itself.

As a child in California, I was the family artist and had the opportunity to study drawing and painting, working in a number of mediums, enjoying the particular virtues of each. I went to college, then briefly to The SF School of Fine Arts, where I decided NOT to be an abstract expressionist. I worked for awhile at a variety of jobs, then went back to college, graduated, and later went on to graduate school in psychology.

Though I have always drawn, it wasn’t until we started taking our daughters on vacation that I began to paint again. My watercolors were pitiful, so I began taking art classes, exhibiting my work in the NC Water Color Society. Later I joined the Pastel Society of NC. I have since taken many workshops, participated in exhibitions and had two solo shows.

Most of the paintings on this site not in private collections are for sale. If you are interested in one of them, please contact me directly. Recently I have enjoyed doing portraits and pet portraits by request. It so rewarding to create treasured art! Please contact me if you are interested.
